This role provides support for core curatorial work for the Museum service, ensuring professional collections standards are met.
The Assistant Museum Manager will help people to understand their heritage through engaging with the collection, so that they can develop a sense of belonging and pride, and increase access to heritage through effective collections management and innovative programmes of exhibitions, outreach, and digital development.
A successful Heritage Lottery Fund grant was awarded in 2018 for the development of a new home for the Museum. The old building closed to the public in February 2019 and the new premises opened to the public on 1 November 2019. The new space, at the Samuel Wickens Centre, is much better suited to showing the history of Rustington in a cohesive format and includes visitor experiences, such as an oral history bank and interactive stations. A temporary exhibition area allows a changing programme of events and a space to hold family activities and host talks for visiting community groups during the day.&nbsp;
The Museum shares the building with a Community Hall and the Information Centre in the heart of the Village.&nbsp;
The postholder will support the delivery and growth of engagement with new and existing audiences.
They will support the Museum Manager with cataloguing, care, research and interpretation of the Museum’s Collection and will be involved in all aspects of curatorial work.
The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Rustington Heritage Association and a variety of external stakeholders and partners.

Librarian and reading Intervention Coach (Role C)

This is an exciting opportunity for a well organised, enthusiastic individual to join our busy library pool team. The postholder will have excellent customer care skills, enjoy working with the whole community and be confident in working with and providing information to the public in a busy environment.About You:Experience of library work is not essential, but you should share our passion about the role of libraries in promoting reading, literacy and culture. About The Role:North Somerset libraries have a busy calendar of events including rhymetimes, storytimes, school visits, author events, activity clubs (including Lego, board games, colouring and code club) and digital support. The postholder will be supporting different library teams across North Somerset, covering shifts in any of our 11 service points (including the mobile library) as required. Most shifts are allocated on a monthly basis according to your availability, but short-notice shifts are also regularly available to cover unexpected staff shortages due to sickness and other reasons. IT and digital skills are essential as the postholder will be using a Library Management System and Microsoft applications while also troubleshooting for customers. Experience delivering customer service and working with children is also highly desirable. Experience in cash handling would be an advantage.The post holder will not have a fixed base, but will work at any library in North Somerset as required. This is a zero hours contract, but numerous shifts are available and some of our pool team regularly work over 100 hours per month. Please note that the salary scale above is based on full time hours (37 per week) and you will start at the lower end of the scale unless transferring from an internal role at a higher level.This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
