Our Team:
The post forms an integral part of the Licensing Team which is responsible for the Councils licensing functions. The Licensing Officer will be responsible for the administrative process of considering and determining applications, this includes Taxis, Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005.
You will be part of a small team which consists of the Licensing Manager, a Taxi Enforcement Officer, a Licensing Enforcement Officer and two Solicitors.
The post is office based Monday to Friday, Municipal Buildings, Kingsway, Widnes
Hours: 37 per week
Your Contributions:
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a local authority licensing department and a strong understanding of current licensing legislation, including the Licensing Act 2003, taxi licensing regulations, and the Gambling Act 2005. They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines. The candidate should have a proven track record in processing a wide range of licences, permits, and consents, and be capable of providing accurate, clear, and timely information and guidance to members of the public. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage confidently and courteously with the public across multiple channels, including telephone, email, written correspondence, and in-person enquiries. A professional telephone manner and strong interpersonal and customer service skills are also key to success in this role.

Salary range
- £31,067 - £33,366 per year
