We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Lorry Park Attendant to support the day-to-day administration and operation of the council’s Lorry Park.

In this role, you will play a key part in maximising income from the facility while providing valuable support to the wider Parking Services Team. You will be responsible for accurately recording and reconciling parking transactions, completing daily takings sheets, and administering payments, including SNAP and Freight Card systems.

A vital aspect of the role involves maintaining accurate records of hazardous loads and liaising directly with drivers to ensure all safety procedures are followed effectively.

You will also be required to carry out regular health and safety inspections across the site, as well as assist with routine water flushing duties to ensure continued compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness is essential. This includes ensuring shower and toilet facilities are clean and tidy at the end of each shift. You will also monitor the site for unauthorised occupation, working closely with the council’s CCTV Control Room when necessary.

This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong numeracy and cash handling abilities. You must be prepared to patrol the site (non-enforcement) in all weather conditions and undertake cleaning duties as required.

Above all, you will deliver outstanding customer service to our valued HGV drivers, helping to uphold the council’s reputation for providing high-quality facilities and supporting our Freight Parking Accreditation.

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to monthly craft sessions, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer:

  • Enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service.
  • Family-friendly benefits.
  • One days’ paid volunteering leave.
  • Lifestyle benefits platform.
  • Funded health cash plan.
  • Free car parking to 31 March 2028
  • £10 a month gym membership at one of our gyms in the district.

You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
