Salary: Grade K (SCP3) – £13.67 per hour including London Weighting

Could you help make lunchtime one of the best parts of the school day?

Whitegrove Primary School is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and caring Lunchtime Controller to join our team.

Lunchtime is about much more than simply supervising children while they eat. We want our pupils to enjoy a safe, happy and positive break in their day – whether they are chatting with friends, playing outside, joining in with an activity or simply needing a little encouragement and reassurance.

You will help us create a lunchtime environment where every child feels safe, included and supported.

What will you be doing?

Working as part of our lunchtime team, you will:

  • supervise and support children during the lunch period;
  • help children at mealtimes and encourage independence;
  • encourage positive play and help organise enjoyable activities;
  • supervise children both indoors and outdoors;
  • help maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety;
  • build positive relationships with children and colleagues;
  • support children sensitively with individual needs where required;
  • promote positive behaviour and help ensure lunchtime is calm, safe and enjoyable;
  • play an important role in safeguarding and the wellbeing of our pupils.

The full role also includes supporting the safe use of play equipment and resources and following the school's safeguarding, health and safety and inclusion procedures.

Who are we looking for?

You don't necessarily need previous experience working in a school. What matters most is that you are kind, reliable, patient and enjoy working with children.

You should be someone who:

  • relates well to children and adults;
  • can work positively as part of a team;
  • remains calm and flexible in a busy environment;
  • is caring and sensitive to children's individual needs;
  • understands the importance of safeguarding;
  • is happy to get involved and be active – this isn't a desk job!

Experience of working with or caring for children is part of the person specification, alongside the ability to work constructively within a team and respond sensitively to pupils' needs.

Why Whitegrove?

Whitegrove is a large, friendly primary school where our children are at the heart of everything we do.

You'll be joining a supportive team and playing an important part in the children's school day. For the right person, this is a rewarding role with hours that can fit particularly well around family or other commitments.

If you're someone who can bringenergy, warmth and a smile to lunchtime, we'd love to hear from you.
