The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

Ark Little Ridge is a popular and over-subscribed school in the heart of Hastings graded ‘OUTSTANDING’ in all areas by Ofsted. (October 2023) It has a proven track record of raising standards for its pupils, particularly our most vulnerable..

Due to the promotion of our existing teacher, we have an exciting opportunity for an excellent and nurturing teacher to join our Key Stage 1 Speech & Language class.

This is a part-time role, working two or three days per week, initially on a fixed-term contract from January until 31 July 2027.

You will teach a small group of KS1 pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), whose primary needs relate to speech, language and communication. Working closely with skilled support staff and other professionals, you will provide high-quality, carefully adapted teaching that enables pupils to develop their communication, confidence, independence and learning.

This is a particularly rewarding opportunity for a teacher who understands that children with SEND can achieve highly when teaching is ambitious, responsive and tailored to their individual needs. Experience of working with children with speech, language and communication needs would be a real advantage, although we would also welcome applications from excellent teachers with broader SEND experience who are keen to develop their expertise in this area.

We are looking for someone who:

has Qualified Teacher Status;

  • is an excellent and reflective classroom practitioner;

  • has experience of teaching pupils with SEND;

  • is committed to securing strong outcomes for children with additional needs;

  • can adapt teaching effectively in response to pupils’ individual communication and learning needs;

  • builds warm, positive relationships with children;

  • works well as part of a multidisciplinary team; and

  • is flexible, resilient and committed to making a genuine difference to children’s lives.

If you are passionate about inclusive education and would value the opportunity to work closely with a small group of pupils, we would love to hear from you.
