We have a great opportunity for a Migration Support Officer, this role will be on a full time, fixed term/ secondment basis for 6 months.

This is an on-site position based in Bracknell. Due to the nature of the service you will be required to be physically present during core working hours to ensure effective service delivery. There may be opportunities for hybrid working, however these will be minimal and subject to service needs.

About you...

We are seeking a highly self-motivated and resilient Migration Support Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will be skilled at working independently to achieve positive outcomes through intervention and support. As a team player with experience working alongside partners, you will have a proven track record in coordinating events for children and families across Bracknell Forest to promote community integration.

As a Migration Support Officer, you will think creatively to solve problems and inspire others through your innovative approach. You will be able to prioritise your workload effectively, always ensuring that service users and their voices are at the heart of decision-making. Familiar with a range of support strategies, you will deliver interventions that drive meaningful, positive change.

About the team...

The Migration Team was formed in May 2023 to consolidate the council's support across all Government migration schemes. This is a high-priority area of work with significant visibility within the Council, and we are committed to achieving the best outcomes. The team comprises various subject matter experts, and we collaborate closely with staff across the organisation and with our partners.

The team is part of the Early Help service, which focuses on providing support to children and families in Bracknell Forest. We also maintain strong partnerships with multiple Council teams and external partners to ensure coordinated and effective support.

Key responsibilities...

  • To undertake and oversee comprehensive needs/risk and family assessments where appropriate and develop supportive interventions that reflect the needs identified in the assessment and responding appropriately to changing needs and potentially complex situations.
  • To promote the long-term integration of families in the UK by providing a range of tailored services to them, and through working with other service providers to maximise the opportunities available to them.
  • To establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure a high standard of service and safeguarding responsibilities to displaced families arriving in the borough.
  • To work with other colleagues to meet the language, career and community integration needs of refugees. This could be 1:1 support or the establishment of groups and clubs.
  • To ensuring the Council’s statutory duties and agreed integration support to migrants and other displaced people are delivered effectively co-ordinating cross council support including, but not limited to, Afghans, Ukrainians, Hong Kong nationals and asylum seekers.

Salary range

  • £38,055 - £42,469 per year
