About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with specialist Moving & Handling skills to join our Specialist Moving & Handling Team at West Northamptonshire Council.
This is a community based role where you will work directly with people with physical disabilities, supporting them to live safely and as independently as possible. You will visit clients within the community to assess their moving & handling needs, working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Reablement Support Workers, carers and providers to achieve the best outcomes for each individual.
Interviews will be held on 15th July 2026.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. Additional information
You will be a confident, approachable and people focused professional who enjoys working directly with individuals, carers and professionals. We’d love someone who builds positive relationships easily, communicates clearly and sensitively, and feels comfortable working with people with physical disabilities and complex needs.
You will be confident completing moving and handling assessments and developing safe, person centred plans, while also enjoying the training side of the role. You will be comfortable delivering training, coaching carers and providers, and explaining best practice in a clear and supportive way. You are well organised, able to manage your own caseload, and confident working independently while also contributing as part of a wider multi disciplinary team.
You will bring the following to the role:
• ROSPA Level 3 Moving & Handling Train the Trainer qualification or equivalent
• A Level or equivalent qualification
• Experience and knowledge of working within health and social care, including moving and handling assessments and plans
• A good understanding of safeguarding, legislation and equal opportunities
A full driving licence and access to your own vehiclewith business insurance is essential.
