Neighbourhood event support coordinator
About the job
Salary: £30,024 - £32,597 a year pro rata
Hours per week: 37
Contract type: Fixed Term 1 year
This position is available as a secondment opportunity for up to 1 year. If you are a permanent LBC employee, you must have written approval (an email will suffice) from your manager prior to applying and a copy will need to be submitted with your application. Please note: we will not be able to proceed with your application form without your manager’s permission.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in bringing people and organisations together to make a real difference in our communities. As a Neighbourhood Event Support Coordinator, you’ll help strengthen relationships between the Council, councillors and residents. You’ll be working closely with a range of partners, local groups and stakeholders to deliver events and festivals, and ensure that local priorities are heard and acted upon.
Your work will involve coordinating and supporting events across the Borough, helping to plan and manage budgets, and contributing to funding programmes that empower local organisations. You’ll also be a key point of contact for listening to residents and community leaders, feeding back their insights to help shape our wider strategy and decision-making. It’s a varied and fast-paced role, perfect for someone who enjoys working with people and making a tangible impact on local life.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
You’ll bring curiosity and empathy, along with a genuine commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion. You understand the importance of representing all voices and are open to learning about cultures and communities you may not yet know well.
Strong communication skills are key — both in person and in writing — as you’ll be liaising with community groups, councillors, and colleagues across different services. You’ll be able to negotiate, influence and build trust while ensuring the Council’s position is maintained. A good working knowledge of budgeting, project coordination and community development principles will help you hit the ground running, as will a solid grasp of IT and social media tools to help share key messages and updates.
Ideally, you’ll have experience working with charities, voluntary or community groups, but most importantly, you’ll have the drive, adaptability and initiative to make things happen.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English
