Inspire. Educate. Empower. ✨📚💡

The governors of this warm, inclusive and successful school are delighted to invite applications from Early Career Teachers and experienced teachers who are passionate about making a meaningful difference to the lives of children with complex additional needs.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, compassionate and skilled class teacher to work within our Nurture Room, supporting up to 12 children, currently from Reception to Year 1, alongside two experienced teaching assistants. This specialist provision supports children with complex SEND, and all pupils are currently pre-verbal. Some children have continence needs and/or demonstrate sensory-seeking behaviours.

This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who believes that our most vulnerable children deserve the very best that we can offer, and who is committed to creating a calm, nurturing, and enabling environment in which children can feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

This post is offered initially for one academic year, with the potential to become permanent, subject to funding.

This role would suit you if you:

  • Are passionate about supporting children with SEND and complex needs, and believe in equity, inclusion and dignity for all children.
  • Have experience of, or a strong interest in, working with children who are pre-verbal and require alternative and augmentative communication approaches.
  • Understand the importance of relational practice, regulation and nurture in supporting learning and development.
  • Are confident working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including close collaboration with teaching assistants and external professionals.
  • Have high expectations for children’s wellbeing, personal development and progress, recognising that progress may look different for every child.
  • Are reflective and eager to develop your SEND practice through professional dialogue, mentoring and ongoing professional learning.
  • Are organised, patient, resilient and calm, with excellent communication skills.
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times.

SEND experience is highly desirable, but we also welcome applications from teachers who demonstrate the right values, mindset and commitment to developing their practice in this specialist area.
