Occupational Health Advisor
Location: Derby, Roundhouse with occasional travel to DHU sites including Oldbury, Chesterfield and Leicester.
Working Pattern: Part time 30 hours per week
Salary: £38,383 - £46,221 per annum, pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join DHU Healthcare, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Health service across the organisation.
This is a key role where you will help protect and promote the health, wellbeing and safety of our colleagues, while providing clear, professional advice that supports safe and effective working. You will have a particular focus on fitness-for-work assessments, helping managers and colleagues navigate health-related workplace matters with compassion, confidence and professionalism.

Working mainly from home, with occasional travel to sites including Oldbury, Chesterfield, Leicester and Derby, you will support Occupational Health services for DHU Healthcare and our NHS 111 service. Some flexibility may be required to support early or late clinics.
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will provide independent, evidence-based advice following management referrals, undertake pre-placement health assessments, assess fitness for work, and support safety-critical, driver and night worker medicals in line with relevant guidance and organisational policy.
You will work closely with managers, HR, Health and Safety colleagues and external professionals, preparing clear and objective Occupational Health reports that support employees and help the organisation make informed decisions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with Occupational Health or case management experience to develop within a supportive organisation that values wellbeing, quality, professionalism and continuous improvement.
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will:
- Be a Registered Nurse with NMC registration
- Have experience in Occupational Health and/or case management
- Provide independent, evidence-based fitness-for-work advice
- Undertake pre-placement health assessments and assess fitness for work
- Conduct safety-critical and driver medicals, including Group 2, PCV/LGV and night worker medicals, in line with relevant guidance
- Recommend reasonable adjustments, phased returns and rehabilitation support
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in line with GDPR, NMC standards and service policies
- Prepare clear, objective Occupational Health reports for managers and stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with HR, line managers, Health and Safety colleagues and external professionals
- Support the review and development of Occupational Health procedures, protocols, audit and quality improvement activity
- Contribute to workplace wellbeing and health promotion initiatives
- Be confident using electronic systems and working independently in a mainly home-based role
You’ll bring:
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Health & Safety legislation
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- A compassionate, professional and balanced approach to supporting colleagues and managers
- A commitment to maintaining professional registration, CPD and best practice in Occupational Health
- Experience with driver or safety-critical medicals, night worker assessments, DVLA Group 2 guidance, OPAS, Cohort or Empactis would be advantageous, but not essential.
