Occupational Therapist

What you’ll be doing:

• To be a key member of a skilled clinical team, providing a high quality, evidence based and child centred therapy service.
• To hold a clinical case load and practice clinically, setting priorities and working autonomously
• To influence therapy planning and service development within an allocated area of special responsibility, in line with current research and nationally identified policy.
• To ensure that all practice is in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
• To work with families, carers, educators and appropriate external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to therapeutic support
• To provide training and consultancy to families, Mill School staff and, where appropriate, to staff in other Kedleston Group services.

What we’re looking for:

• Dip COT, BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy together with HCPC and BAOT registration
• Previous experience of working in a special school setting or in a CAMHS service
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, staff, and parents.
• A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving and student support.

Who are we?

Hawley Woods School provides specialist education for autistic children and those with associated conditions or learning disabilities across Key Stages 2-4 supporting children aged 7-17 (school years 3-11).

We help children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who may be struggling to keep up with the pace of work, may be losing confidence, or struggling with the overwhelming sensory environment of their mainstream school. We also help children who have been out of education for a period of time, to positively re-engage in an education which takes into account any negative experiences they may have had in schools so far.

Hawley Woods School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
