Applying your professional knowledge and experience, you will:

  • Investigate major hazard events or precursors to identify immediate and underlying causes and safety management system failings. This includes fatalities and other serious incidents and acting to secure improvements and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Where necessary you will also take action to secure justice i.e. compiling prosecution reports.

You will join our Regulatory Learning Academy and undertake the learning pathway relevant for your role. This pathway will reflect the core operational functions and skills required in this role.

Travel and Working Patterns

Frequent travel is required in this role, both across the UK and Offshore. In addition to frequent travel to Aberdeen and other HSE offices, you will be required to spend periods of time offshore, including overnight stays. This usually includes working outside of normal core working hours, early check-ins and late returns from offshore inspections. You will travel from Aberdeen and other airports by helicopter or marine access to offshore installations, and floating production and non-production installations, usually once a month and for one to four days. On occasion, you may be expected to undertake unplanned visits offshore at relatively short notice, including weekends.
