Job summary

We are recruiting a Operations Training Officer to join our Business Development and Improvement Team.

This role sits within the Business Development and Improvement Team and supports the ongoing training of colleagues across Operations. The post holder will ensure that high quality training is delivered to our colleagues to meet business needs. The post holder will ensure that colleagues then maintain their skillset through delivering additional training and quality monitoring.

The role holder will work closely with Operations managers to develop new and existing training materials. The role holder will plan, organise, manage, and evaluate their training and standard working instructions in line with all internal processes and guidance.

The role holder will report to the Quality and Training Manager. The role holder will not routinely directly line manage staff but will need to work closely with colleagues to achieve their goals and manage delegates during the training and inductions they deliver.

Technical skills

  • Experience of identifying, designing, delivering, and evaluating system and process-based training for varying group sizes, using a range of training methods.
  • Experience of planning, organising, and delivering a busy schedule of training events, with multiple components.
  • Experience of completing one-to-one coaching to support learning consolidation, identifying emerging needs and taking action to support improvement.
  • Experience of completing quality assurance on the outputs of Operational team members, providing the associated feedback, and coaching to drive improvement.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.

Application and Shortlisting:

The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the job specification.

If we receive a high number of applications, an initial sift will be conducted based on the following lead criterion:

  • Experience of identifying, designing, delivering, and evaluating system and process-based training for varying group sizes, using a range of training methods.

Applicants who meet this initial eligibility criterion will be invited to progress to the next stage of the selection process. If required, a further full sift will be undertaken, where all applications that passed the initial sift will be assessed against the complete set of essential criteria outlined in the job description.

You will also be asked to provide information within the “Employer/Activity History” section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this may be used in the sifting process).

Assessment and Interview:

Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlist stage will be invited to an assessment and interview where you will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and on the technical/experience skills as detailed in the job specification.

Assessment and Interviews will be held during the week commencing 9 March 2026 at Piccadilly Gate, Manchester.
