About the Role

We are a busy school with a fantastic admin team. The successful candidate will have flexibility over when they work and where they work, including some working from home. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and the Governors. This position would be suitable for someone who has worked as a School Business Manager before and may be looking to go part time. All day to day School Business Manager tasks will be undertaken by the school Bursar.

As part of the role, the School Business Manager will work closely with, and provide leadership to, our full-time Bursar who will manage day-to-day operations, including: finance, facilities and health and safety. The role of the School Business Manager will focus on higher-level strategic leadership, including:

  • Strategic oversight of school finance
  • Managing the annual budget and 3-year financial plan
  • Supporting the Headteacher and senior leaders and governors with high-quality financial advice and regular reports
  • Leading on staffing structure reviews, workforce planning and contractual changes
  • Ensuring best value through robust compliance, procurement and financial controls
  • Leading and developing the performance of the school Bursar

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong experience in school business management and the ability to directly contribute to the continued success of our school through their leadership
  • Understands the complexities of education finance, budget forecasting and staffing structures
  • Can lead, guide, and develop others with confidence and clarity
