Full Time Pathways Room Leader to work with SEND pupils

Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Pathways Room Leader to oversee one of our SEND Pathways classrooms. The successful candidate will create a nurturing, structured environment where pupils with complex needs feel safe, included, and able to make good progress. This role requires confident leadership, high professional standards, and a commitment to the school’s ethos and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily deployment, conduct, and performance of Teaching Assistants.
  • Model exemplary professional practice, including de‑escalation, punctuality, and a solution‑focused approach.
  • Support staff in SEND strategies such as GESTALT and sensory regulation.
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality whole‑room learning, small‑group sessions, and 1:1 interventions aligned with IEP targets.
  • Maintain accurate pupil records and pupil information.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, care plans, and behaviour logs are consistently followed and updated when required.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, sensory‑friendly learning environment.
  • Liaise professionally with parents, the Inclusion Lead, and external therapists (OT/SLT) and other staff.

  • Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
  • Ability to lead a team with clarity, professionalism, and high expectations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A reflective, resilient, and child‑centred approach.
