The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have an opportunity to be part of this in the role of Pause Practitioner.

What you will bring to the role:

Are you an ambitious, creative, and influential practitioner who is passionate about reducing the number of children being removed into care by supporting women to bring about change in their lives?

About Pause:

Doncaster is working in collaboration with the national charity, Pause, to deliver the Pause Programme. Pause works to improve the lives of women who have had – or are at risk of having – more than one child removed from their care, and the services and systems that affect them.

The Pause Programme offers an intensive, trauma informed model of support to women, so the removal of a child should never have to happen more than once. Our practice model is centred around an intensive, supportive and trusting relationship between a woman and their Pause Practitioner, who work together to build strong foundations for the future. The role:

As a Pause Practitioner, you will be responsible for implementing a range of interventions and support measures as part of an integrated package of health, therapeutic and social support. Click here if you’d like to hear more about the Practitioner role.

You’ll be a big part of a small team, where everyone takes a flexible and collaborative approach to work and is committed to working with women to create positive changes in their lives.

Like Pause, you will be passionate about changing entrenched social issues and will respond by ‘doing things differently’. You will play an integral part of a team where everyone takes an energetic, flexible and collaborative approach to their work, and a determination to reduce the number of children going into care.

We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, people from the LGBTIQA+ community and people from Black, brown and other minority ethnic backgrounds, as these people are currently under-represented across the Pause network.

We value a range of experiences and skills. If you have transferable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.

In return for your contribution, we offer:

  • Competitive leave entitlement
  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • Wellbeing support and staff networks
  • Development and training opportunities
  • Staff discounts and benefits schemes
