Peer Worker
Our Vacancy
As a Peer Worker, you’ll be at the heart of your Peabody community, using your lived experience of recovery to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. Every day brings something new – from offering one-to-one support to leading group activities that build confidence, resilience, and life skills. You’ll play a vital role in helping residents discover their own recovery techniques while fostering hope, acceptance, and a sense of belonging.
What You’ll Do
You’ll support residents in a variety of ways, whether that’s encouraging someone to join a local self-help group, guiding them in managing everyday responsibilities, or helping them develop strategies to cope with the challenges they face. By sharing your personal journey in a supportive, non-judgemental way, you’ll inspire residents to build confidence and take positive steps forward. Alongside this, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to deliver engaging group activities and contribute to the overall wellbeing of the community.
What You’ll Need
- Knowledge of recovery-focused support and/or trauma-informed practice.
- The ability to draw on your own personal recovery experience to help others create and follow through on their own plans.
- Strong skills in motivating others, building rapport, and sharing personal experiences appropriately.
- A compassionate, non-judgemental approach with resilience when managing challenging behaviours.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service, including advice on independent living skills and moving on.
- The ability to research, identify, and promote activities that enhance wellbeing.
Please note that this is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week. The days and hours are flexible.
