We are looking for a Performing Arts and Audio-Visual Technician to work across our successful Performing Arts departments. There are two main elements to the role whereby you will play a lead role in planning, preparing and executing lighting, sound and associated resources for key whole events such as assemblies, shows, open evenings and performances. Alongside this, you will provide technical support across the drama and music department, working closely with students and staff in lessons and preparing for assessments and exams. Previous post holders have also run successful lighting and sound clubs to help develop the next generation of sound and lighting enthusiasts.

Salary: £22,259.87 - pro rata
Contract Type: Permenant, Term time only
Working Pattern: 8.00am - 4.00pm 37 Hours (some flexiblity is required/available)

What You Need to Succeed

Main Tasks/duties/responsibilities for this specific role

• Preparing technical content of lessons as requested by teaching staff
• Contribute to the day to day running of performing arts departments, including equipment maintenance and organisation, lesson preparation and admin tasks related to music and drama events and commitments
• Be responsible for installation and maintenance of lighting and sound equipment and provide technical support for ICT and AV equipment associated with school productions and performances
• Form part of the team that manages AV requests for our events and bookings and assemblies.
• Work in class with teachers and students, including one-to-one tuition
• Operating sound and lighting equipment, including design, plotting and rigging
• Support delivery of music technology based curriculum to students, including the use of recording equipment, live sound engineering, and DAW production
• Support delivery of GCSE drama course supporting any students on the design routes
• Advise and assist teaching staff to develop students’ technical skills in the use of equipment; video and record lessons as required. Edit audio and video footage as required.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment including musical instruments.
• Manage administration within the department including BTEC and exam paperwork.
• Support students with technical requirements in rehearsals
• Undertake clearly defined role in the school production
• Support teaching staff/students by giving technical advice where necessary and appropriate
• Support extracurricular activities within the Drama and Music Departments where needed, including open evenings, performances and productions, taster days and after school clubs.
• Work flexible hours at certain points in the year to support with shows, concerts and other evening events.
