The Vacancy

Join Ciaran’s Team – Help Shape His Good Life

Ciaran is a young man in his early thirties who is quite cheerful, has a great sense of humour, and loves having a bit of cheeky light-hearted banter. A film buff too, he loves nostalgic films from the 90s – as well as anything from Disney/Pixar, to Marvel, etc. One of his favourite things to do is get out and about on bus trips and spending time in his community. Recently, he’s been enjoying his music therapy sessions, and now he loves rocking out on his ukulele. Any soul-sisters or misters out there that want to join his jam?

Right now, Ciaran is hiring Personal Development Workers (aka support worker-type roles) to support him in his transition from a hospital setting back into his own home. This is a big move for Ciaran. While there will be some challenges along the way, this transition will help increase his independence and his connection to the local community once more. The focus will be on supporting him to enjoy meaningful activities and to live the life he chooses. This progress will be achieved in small, person-centered steps. For example, Ciaran loves water and, in the past, he enjoyed swimming. He’s looking for someone that will help him work towards getting back to this hobby that means so much to him.

With consistency, empathy, and patience, you will build a relationship with Ciaran that is based on trust and understanding. He needs someone who is calm, confident, and communicative in supporting him. As he is currently going through a period of transition, he is looking for someone who is reliable and flexible. He is hiring members for his team that will help support him through dayshifts and nights as well. While previous experience with learning disabilities is desirable, having the right values and attitude towards supporting this young man is most important. If you’re looking for meaningful work with the opportunity to help rebuild someone’s independence and confidence within their community, you should apply now.
