    The opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Contract or Secondment to the role of Place Officer – Economic Development within the Place and Enterprise Service for a period of 12 months. The Place, Communities and Enterprise team consists of multi-skilled people who work across a wide area to deliver sustainable growth for the borough.

    The role of a Place Officer – Economic Development is to develop and deliver real change that will have a positive impact on the economy of the borough.

    Responsibility for the planning and delivery of Economic Development and broader Place objectives which will mean that the area maintains a vibrant economy across all sectors and feed into activities at a local, sub regional and regional level including working with Hertfordshire Futures and other key partners.

    Facilitating delivery of a range of services through a high level of partnership working and strategic economic development, robust economic and place strategies and through business communication and supporting place events. Gathering data, information and being solution focussed to address areas of concern where possible and working with the business community to understand their needs and incorporated into long term strategic planning.

    You will also need to work in collaboration with other services, and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the Council’s aims and objectives. It will be the responsibility of all Place Officers to maximise their knowledge and experience by working across the service and developing new skills.

    The ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders is required as well as tact, diplomacy and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of groups. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to achieve defined performance targets.

    Applicants must have a full driving licence that is valid in the UK and use of a vehicle.

    A Basic check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.
