
Planning Policy Technical Officer
We have a vacancy for a Planning Policy Technical Officer to take on an important role in our Planning Policy Team and support the preparation of our new local plan.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in the technical elements of the preparation of a new local plan, such as the management, collation and preparation of data, GIS support and preparation of maps, development of a digital plan and maintenance of the key databases for engagement. They will also be the main contact point for the team for internal and external communication and support with arrangements for consultation exercises.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and maintaining the housing and employment monitoring database, under the supervision of the Senior Planning Officer, and undertaking site visits to monitor the progress of development.
- Undertaking research, managing, collating and preparing data for reports and studies, Government data returns and responding to enquiries.
- Support Senior/Principal officers in the preparation of evidence documents.
- Managing the team’s GIS layers, running GIS queries and preparing maps using GIS software for reports and studies.
- Assisting with the technical development of a new digital local plan and design code for Rushmoor.
- Maintaining a Duty to Cooperate database for the preparation of the local plan.
- Project managing the programme for the local plan examination, including managing the examination document library, liaising with the Planning Inspector, managing stakeholders and arranging the hearing sessions.
- Be the main point of contact for the planning policy team for both internal and external communication and respond to general planning policy enquiries.
- Arranging public consultation exercises for the planning policy team, including the setting up of workshops and exhibitions, sending out letters and emails to stakeholders and processing responses.

Person Specification.
We are looking for candidates that:
- Have administration experience
- Are confident working with a GIS system including managing GIS data, running GISqueriesand producing maps
- Are computer-literate and familiar with Microsoft desktop applications
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Have strong research, data collection, statistical analysis and numeracy and literacy skills
- Can work methodically and accurately with a strong attention to detail
- Can work well both within a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Have good organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload and time effectively

Salary range
- £27,254 - £32,597 per year
