Join Us as a Policy and Performance Officer

In this pivotal role, you’ll support the delivery of the council’s corporate policy, governance, and emergency planning functions. You’ll play a key role in supporting the shaping of strategic direction, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting major initiatives like Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and Community Governance Reviews (CGR).

No two days are ever the same and the opportunities are endless.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to work in a local government environment and is keen to broaden their knowledge.
Winchester City Council is ambitious and driven by the priorities in our Council Plan and you will be part of this by supporting the Senior Policy and Programme Manager to report the progress of the programmes and projects that the council is delivering, applying a continuous improvement mindset to everything that you do.

You will have a strong interest in national and local government policy development and be confident in analysing and reporting on how emerging policies may impact council services. Your work will support the senior management team in making informed decisions.

Our commitment to transparency means you’ll also play a vital role in helping officers across the council to provide essential information to residents, stakeholders and Elected Members.

In addition, you’ll support the council’s corporate planning process, including the annual review of the Council Plan and departmental Service Plans. You’ll also take responsibility for managing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, supporting teams to ensure responses are timely and compliant with statutory deadlines.

If you have the background, experience and skills to thrive in this role then we’d love to hear from you.
