Job summary

At Ofgem, the decisions we make on electricity charging and market design will shape how the energy system evolves and how costs are experienced by consumers, and we’re seeking six Policy Managers to help drive that change.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We’re offering six permanent opportunities within our Electricity Charging & Market Design portfolio, part of the Energy System Management & Security directorate, where you’ll contribute to work that sits at the centre of how the energy system operates, is funded and evolves over time.

Working across areas such as distribution and transmission charging, as well as strategic investment levers, you’ll play a role in shaping how costs are allocated, how investment is enabled and how the system supports a greener, fairer future.

You’ll gain exposure to processes and mechanisms across the organisation, helping deepen your experience and supporting your ongoing development. Contributing to decision-making that resonates across the sector, you’ll have the chance to influence market design, support security of supply and help ensure the energy system remains accessible and effective for consumers.

Job description

Operating in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you’ll be part of work that brings together strategy, evidence and delivery, helping translate complex issues into clear policy approaches that can be implemented in practice.

You’ll have experience in policy coupled with expertise in the GB energy sector, as well as an excellent grasp of the economics of investment. As an outstanding communicator, you’ll be equipped to set clear boundaries for goals and priorities, solve problems effectively, and explain the importance of your work. Alongside being able to balance your responsibilities, you’ll also be an excellent team player who understands engagement and collaboration.

In return, you’ll join an inclusive team working on issues that affect every aspect of daily life from an energy standpoint. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your expertise while contributing to work that enables a more secure, sustainable and fair energy system.

We have a critical purpose to ensure the energy system works in the interests of consumers, now and in the future. Join us and help shape the policies that will underpin the next phase of the energy transition.
