    Be a key support to Local Democracy – Political Advisor to the Labour Group

    The Role

    As political advisor to the Labour Group you will provide administrative, policy and communications support to the Group Leadership and Members. The role will be wide ranging but will include; coordinating meetings, drafting briefings and reports, and generally supporting the Council’s decision-making processes.

    You will act as a key link between your group, Members generally, senior officers and external stakeholders and partners. The role involves working on sensitive and complex issues in a dynamic political environment.

    What we are looking for

    You will be an organised and proactive individual, able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and produce clear, high-quality materials.

    You will be able to work independently, think critically and provide sound advice. You will also be collaborative by nature and look to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, Members and officers.

    Further Role Details:

    • The role is part-time - 17.5 hours a week. The salary is pro-rata the full grade salary.
    • There is some flexibility in terms of work patterns subject to need around group meeting, Council meetings etc).
    • The job is primarily based at Whitechapel Town Hall, 160 Whitechapel Road, E1 1BJ
    • Evening and some weekend work is required.
    • You will likely need to attend the office on your workdays, but some work from home may be possible depending on circumstances and group agreement.
    • Your political affiliations and interests will be discussed at interview.
    • The post is politically restricted.
