
Portfolio Manager
Summary
What you'll do
As a Portfolio Manager, you will take ownership of a patch within our Temporary Housing portfolio, ensuring it remains stable, high-quality and financially sound. You will lead on lease renewals, property inspections and new acquisitions, always keeping resident needs at the heart of your decisions.
How you'll do it
- Renew leases and manage void properties, working with landlords and colleagues to improve property standards.
- Inspect homes and respond to resident concerns to assess suitability for continued inclusion in the portfolio.
- Proactively source and secure new high-quality properties, negotiating strong financial arrangements.
- Monitor portfolio size and performance, adjusting focus to maintain stability and meet demand.
- Build relationships with local authorities and external partners to support housing needs.
- Maintain market knowledge and use insights to inform strategy and meet KPIs.
- Advocate for residents by ensuring homes meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate across NHG to support residents affected by property removals and deliver service improvements.

Essential:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Experience in the private rental sector, including securing new business and managing leases.
- Knowledge of building construction and the ability to identify defects and remedies.
- Commercial awareness and a track record of securing sound financial arrangements.
- Customer-focused mindset and ability to build strong relationships across teams.
Desirable:
- Experience in property marketing and advertising strategies.
- Familiarity with housing compliance standards and portfolio performance monitoring.
