Millions of pounds of investment, ambitious regional programmes and life-changing outcomes for residents all start with strong leadership. This is an opportunity to lead the North East's Warm Homes agenda at a crucial time, establishing a newly devolved Warm Homes service that helps households reduce energy costs, improves living conditions and supports the transition to a low-carbon future. As part of our Clean Energy and Environment team, you'll shape regional strategy, influence national conversations and deliver programmes that make a tangible difference across our communities.
The Role
Warm homes change lives. As our Principal Warm Homes Manager, you'll lead one of the North East's most important programmes, shaping investment that helps residents live in homes that are warmer, greener and cheaper to run. You'll provide strategic leadership across a major portfolio of domestic retrofit, housing decarbonisation and energy efficiency initiatives, helping to drive the region's transition to a cleaner, fairer and more sustainable future.
Working with government departments, local authorities, housing providers, industry partners and communities, you'll turn ambition into action. From delivering devolution, securing investment and developing regional strategies to overseeing programme delivery and leading a high-performing team, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the North East maximises the opportunities presented by the Warm Homes agenda.
About You
You'll be an experienced programme leader with a strong track record of delivering large-scale retrofit, energy efficiency, fuel poverty, decarbonisation or Warm Homes programmes. Comfortable operating at a strategic level, you'll combine commercial awareness, political sensitivity and technical understanding with the ability to build lasting partnerships and influence senior stakeholders.
Most importantly, you'll be passionate about creating positive outcomes for residents. You'll be equally at home developing business cases, managing complex budgets and governance arrangements, leading teams and providing expert advice to senior leaders. You'll bring vision, credibility and the drive to turn bold ideas into measurable impact.
What It Isn't
This isn't a role focused solely on policy development, report writing or contract monitoring. Neither is it a purely technical retrofit role. This is a strategic leadership position that sits at the heart of regional delivery, requiring someone who can connect policy, funding, partnerships and programmes to achieve real-world outcomes for communities across the North East.
