
Private Housing Standards Liaison Officer
The Private Housing Standards service regulates private sector housing in Sheffield, primarily focusing on improving the conditions and management of privately rented properties. With roughly 45,000 privately rented homes in the city and numbers continuing to rise, the service is looking to expand its Liaison Team.
The role will provide effective contact between customers and Private Rented Standards Officers, manage incoming enquiries and maintain accurate case records to support the delivery of regulatory services.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for making a difference to the citizens of Sheffield, has experience of managing an incoming workload, the skills to deal with customers in an effective manner, the ability to problem solve via both email and on the phone, and a keen attention to detail. It is preferable that the candidate also has a basic understanding of issues relating to housing in the private sector.
General day to day tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Discussing repair issues with tenants via telephone and email, and making referrals to housing inspectors
- Triaging repair issues with landlords and property managers
- Processing applications for housing licensing schemes and council led initiatives
- Maintaining accurate customer and case records
- Researching information using sources such as HM Land Registry and Companies House
- Managing information in line with relevant policies, procedures and legislation, including data protection and Freedom of Information requirements
- General admin duties
The role will require that the candidate spends a minimum amount of time working from a fixed office location each week, but home working is also permitted.
Flexible working hours and 26 days paid annual leave per year (rising to 31 days after 5 years service) plus bank holidays.
One full-time permanent post and one temporary for 12 months post, available for immediate start. (37 hours per week)

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.

Salary range
- £27,274 - £29,542 per year
