Are you passionate about preventing homelessness and making a real difference in your community?

We are experiencing increasing demand from households presenting as homeless, alongside growing pressures on temporary accommodation. As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing the number of families in temporary housing, we are looking to recruit a proactive and solution-focused Private Rented Sector Officer to join our team.

The Role

This is a key frontline role focused on securing suitable accommodation within the private rented sector to meet housing demand and support households in need. You will play a vital role in helping to prevent and relieve homelessness by sourcing and procuring properties from private landlords and letting agents.

You will act as one of the lead contacts for local landlords and agents, building and maintaining strong working relationships to maximise accommodation opportunities. Through effective negotiation and partnership working, you will help increase the supply of affordable, suitable housing and reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and procure properties within the private rented sector for households at risk of homelessness
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local letting agents and private landlords
  • Negotiate rental agreements to secure accommodation and prevent homelessness
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support households into suitable housing solutions
  • Contribute to reducing the number of households placed in temporary accommodation

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who can build rapport quickly and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

You will have:

  • Experience working with landlords, letting agents, or within housing/homelessness services
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to build and sustain positive working relationships
  • A proactive and results-driven approach
  • An understanding of the challenges facing the private rented sector and homelessness services (desirable)
