    Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has invested in the Homelessness Services and is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate Private Sector Liaison Officer to make a difference to residents in need of housing.

    You will be part of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Housing Options team, working to promote the partnership with the Council and landlords and letting agents to help provide homes for those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

    You will be responsible for reaching out to landlords and letting agents, negotiating access to property which can be offered to people and families that need somewhere to live.

    You will develop the Council’s offer to landlords and agents, being a point of contact for them to ensure tenancy sustainment and encourage landlords and agents in becoming a partner to the Council in our goal of reducing homelessness and the need for temporary accommodation.

    Working alongside the other officers in the Housing Options team, you will be creative in your negotiations in finding solutions to barriers that might exist and alleviating concerns.

    Previous experience in the lettings industry is desirable, but not essential.

    You will be passionate in providing high quality public services to the local community. You will have experience with providing excellent customer service. You will have ability to negotiate with others and find solutions to complicated situations. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to deliver outstanding results. You will have a great eye for detail to maintain accurate data and understand the data protection legislation and principles.

    You will have an interest in learning about homelessness and developing or increasing your understanding of homelessness legislation and case law.

    If you are passionate about helping people with true customer focus, assisting those in housing need, thrive under pressure and enjoy working in a team – we want to hear from you.

    The ability to converse with ease with other staff and members of the public and to provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.

    You will have a full UK driving license and access to a car.
