Make an impact behind the programmes shaping our region

We’re looking for two organised, proactive Programme Officers who can help turn plans into progress. If you enjoy bringing people, information and activities together, keeping programmes on track and making sure the detail is taken care of, this could be the opportunity for you.

The Role

Working within Investment and Programme Services, you will help coordinate the delivery of programmes, projects, contracts, funding streams and stakeholder events that support the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority’s corporate and strategic responsibilities.

You will assist with programme and project planning, monitor processes and progress, coordinate project reviews and engagement activity, and help produce clear, accurate management information. You will also support financial monitoring by accounting for expenditure and reconciling spend, while contributing to analytical, statistical and communication activities. Building positive relationships with colleagues, local authorities, public bodies and other external partners will be central to the role.

One of the roles is full-time, permanent, the other is full-time, fixed term for 12 months.

About You

You will have experience of managing or supporting programmes or projects in a public sector or partnership environment, alongside experience of grant administration or funding processes. You will be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, including public bodies, local authorities and community organisations.

With strong project management, financial analysis and communication skills, you will be able to balance multiple priorities, work to deadlines and deliver high-quality results. You will bring good financial literacy, confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and an understanding of public sector investment, grant management or funding mechanisms. Most importantly, you will be collaborative, adaptable and proactive, with a commitment to integrity, professionalism, equality and diversity.

What it Isn’t

This is not a role where you will focus on just one task or work in isolation. You will be supporting several interconnected programmes and projects, working with different partners and responding to changing priorities. It is a varied role for someone who enjoys collaboration, problem-solving and making things happen.

So, if you...

...can bring structure to complex activity, build strong relationships and use information and insight to keep programmes moving forward, we would love to hear from you.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented, including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If you would like an informal discussion or further information about this role, please contact James Wilson, Programme and Funding Team Leader james.wilson1@northeast-ca.gov.uk.

Closing date for applications: 25th October 2026 at 23:59.
