Job description

Provide administrative support to a wide range of vital projects and programmes

Our collaborative and close-knit teams work on a wide range of challenging engineering projects and programmes, and when you join us in this important role you’ll have a number of responsibilities, the first of which will be to ensure that the materials and goods ordered are delivered on time and in perfect condition. Raising requisitions, informing project managers of delivery lead times, paying invoices on time, ensuring the correct use of computer systems and maintaining project-related records – these are some of the other tasks we’ll expect you to be responsible for.

But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also coordinate project logistics, travel arrangements and track the orders and shipping of equipment, supervise team workflows, and ensure that your colleagues adhere to best practice and commercial regulations. We’ll also expect you to maintain regular contact with a wide range of stakeholders – these include project managers, accounts payable, logistics teams and the FCDO Customer Service Centre with responsibility for project administration.

Use your superb organisational skills as you help defend the UK’s global interests

This is a role where you’ll use all your superb communication and organisational skills as you interact with customers and suppliers, escort visitors to programme teams, and collaborate with your colleagues. A highly motivated self-starter and capable of working effectively on your own initiative or as the member of a team, we’ll also expect you to possess strong numerical and analytical skills, and be a confident user of the Microsoft Office suite of software.

In addition, any experience of working in government or with a large organisation would be an advantage, as would the ability to use an ORACLE system and support the delivery of complex, multi-faceted projects.

Discover the support you need to grow your career further

But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
