The department took full responsibility for the Grenfell Tower site which was transferred from the local Council in July 2019; and has had full ownership since.
The Grenfell Site and Programme (GS&P) manage the site and supports the independent Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission (GTMC). The purpose of the programme is to deliver a lasting memorial to remember the 72 lives that were lost in the tragedy, a second site to lay the Grenfell Tower materials to rest and the creation of a physical and digital archive and permanent exhibition.
In February 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister took the decision to carefully take down Grenfell Tower. The works to bring the tower down commenced in 2025.
This role offers candidates an opportunity to work within the delivery team on the Grenfell Site who are leading on the works to carefully take the Tower down. The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of key programme milestones, working closely with senior colleagues and contractors.
The successful candidate will lead on liaising with key stakeholders relevant to the site works, including other contractors delivering works adjacent to site, the local authority, school and immediate residents neighbouring the site. Candidates should have strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and an aptitude for stakeholder management.
This is a fast-moving space and will require candidates to be flexible and resilient with a keen eye for detail to prioritise actions and mitigations.
This is high profile Programme with interest from Ministers, No 10, the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA, formerly the IPA) (as a government major project), and senior officials from across government and the applicant will be expected to work well under pressure, be highly organised, and take initiative.
This is a unique role that will give the right candidate an opportunity to forge strong relationships with the nearest school, residents and sports centre neighbouring the Tower and those undertaking works.
Job description
The Grenfell Tower site team is seeking a proactive and highly organised Project Liaison Manager to closely liaise with stakeholders in the immediate vicinity of the Grenfell Tower. This role will be pivotal in supporting the continued works to carefully and sensitively take down Grenfell Tower, working closely with external stakeholders including the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), their contractors, the school, sports centre and residents living adjacent to site.
The successful candidate will be a team player who is willing to adapt to changing team priorities and collaborate with others in the directorate and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day coordination with other contractors undertaking works in the immediate vicinity of the Grenfell Tower site Support relationship management of residents living in homes neighbouring the site, the school and leisure centre and ensure timely communication and resolution of issues.
Support the wider engagement such as attendance at monthly engagement events and individual meetings with residents and other stakeholders
Communicate updates on works and other related technical information, such as environmental site monitoring reports, answer questions and address feedback
Project Management Office (PMO) Support
Maintain and update core PMO tools e.g. the site risk register.
Support programme governance by preparing stakeholder reports and documentation for boards and working groups.
Keep up to date with progress, risks/issues etc to ensure communications are accurate and timely.

Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of managing complex stakeholders on challenging projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can relay technical information accessible in an accessible way.
Demonstrated adaptability in responding to changing priorities and emerging issues.
Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Experience in a project delivery environment.
