Job summary
As a Project Manager, you’ll manage a range of projects from initiation right through to completion. Some projects you’ll lead independently; others you’ll deliver as part of a larger, multi‑disciplinary team. The portfolio you cover will be varied, spanning business change and technical delivery, so you’ll learn to tailor how you plan, track, and communicate to suit the context. Day to day, you’ll coordinate scope, schedule, and cost; manage risks, issues, and dependencies; and provide clear updates and recommendations that support timely, confident decisions.Job description
You’ll work closely with colleagues, suppliers, customers, and partner organisations, building relationships and acting as a trusted point of coordination. In fast-moving environments, you’ll bring structure, momentum and clarity – keeping delivery aligned to time, cost and quality expectations, and knowing when to escalate for support. As part of a well‑established project management community, you’ll have supportive peers to learn from and established standards to guide your practice. There may be occasional UK travel to meet teams and engage with stakeholders, so you must be willing to travel occasionally within the UK.
A structured induction will help you understand our mission, ways of working, and the delivery community you’ll be joining. During the first weeks, you’ll meet your line manager and a dedicated buddy who will support your transition, build your confidence, and help you navigate the organisation.
Development continues through a blend of internal and external training, practical experience, and community support. As a corporate member of the Association for Project Management (APM), we’ll encourage you to explore relevant courses, frameworks and accreditation pathways. Access to mentoring, coaching and project management forums will provide you with opportunities to share learning and strengthen your professional network, while regular career check-ins will help you reflect on your progress and shape your next steps.
You’ll be encouraged to dedicate a meaningful proportion of your time to professional development so you can continue to grow your skills across planning, risk and issue management, reporting, financial tracking and benefits. This will lay the groundwork to take on broader responsibilities as you progress.
As you grow in the role, you may also have opportunities to support or mentor others. Throughout, you’ll be supported by an active and generous project management community committed to shared learning and professional growth.
Person specification
You have at least four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above (including English and Mathematics), or equivalent Level 2 qualifications, or relevant experience demonstrating solid numeracy and communication skills
With a solid foundation in project-related work, you’re now ready to take ownership of defined activities and continue building your capability on increasingly complex delivery. Your experience has seen you contribute to planning, coordination and reporting, giving you a clear understanding of the importance of risk, issue and change control. And when it comes to keeping projects on track, you’re comfortable working with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
You’re able to adapt your style of communication style to different audiences, share concise updates that support decision-making, and build trust by being reliable and consistent. You can influence and negotiate effectively, forming effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Collaborative and supportive, you work well in multi-disciplinary teams and value shared learning. You’re curious, proactive and calm under pressure – qualities that help you navigate shifting priorities and find practical, workable solutions.
