Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RA

Salary: £39,939 - £42,699 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) + the 10% of the top of the grade for Market Premia (Pay award pending)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager within the Transport Projects and Programmes team in the Environment and Transport Department. We are looking for someone to help us to improve the management of the Department’s capital programme, in particular to develop our governance and risk management, and to manage a small sub-team of staff which provides co-ordination and programme management support for the Department.

About the Role

You will have the vision to identify and develop improvement programmes and projects, and the skills to manage and implement them, making a positive difference to the efficiency of our services and therefore for our residents.

You will support the performance management of services and individuals, to drive continuous improvement in the delivery of Departmental and Service outcomes.

You will have experience of supporting a portfolio of projects with a knowledge of project management principles.

You will assist the Senior Project Manager in the management of project teams.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with diverse priorities.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • Have a degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent, OR demonstrable experience identified with the section below
  • Have experience working in a commercial environment in relation to design, management, or administrative processes, and delivering projects and programmes to time, quality and cost.
  • Have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work within tight timescales and to agreed targets.
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills, producing and checking, briefs, specifications and delivery programmes and writing reports.
  • Be able to build positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
  • Have an understanding of confidentiality and be able to communicate with a range of audiences at all levels.
