There’s never been a better time to be part of Doncaster’s journey. We are a confident, ambitious organisation focused on improving the lives of our residents, and we’re looking for people who want to make a practical difference through well-run, outcomes‑focused change.

The team

This role sits in the Improvement and Change team within the Policy, Insight and Change (PIC) service. We work with services across the Council to shape and deliver priority change — turning ambition into deliverable plans, bringing pace, structure and informed challenge, and assuring outcomes through clear visibility of progress, risks and benefits.

The role

We are recruiting a Project Manager to lead the delivery of improvement and change projects across the Council. You will work with services across Directorates to take projects from definition through to delivery and closure — making sure they are well‑scoped, properly governed, and delivered to agreed time, cost and quality.

You will bring structure and pace to delivery by setting clear plans, managing risks and dependencies, reporting progress honestly, and working with services to remove blockers — keeping work on track and supporting timely decisions.

The projects will vary and you will need to work flexibly, moving between priorities as the organisation’s needs change.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can deliver in a complex environment and who is confident working with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be organised, resilient and able to provide constructive challenge where plans are unclear or unrealistic.

You will also have:

  • Experience delivering projects or change activity within a structured governance framework
  • Experience managing risks, issues and dependencies
  • Experience working across teams/services in a large or complex organisation
  • The ability to communicate clearly, produce good quality reporting, and keep stakeholders aligned
  • Confidence using ICT tools to plan, monitor and report on delivery

What’s it like to work here?

This is a busy, fast‑paced environment with a strong focus on delivery, teamwork and practical problem‑solving. You will be joining a supportive team that works across the Council to help services deliver change properly and consistently.

In return for your contribution, we offer:

  • Competitive leave entitlement
  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • Wellbeing support and staff networks
  • Development and training opportunities
  • Staff discounts and benefits schemes
  • More information on benefits can be found in the attached benefits booklet.

Please review the job summary and profile and demonstrate in your application how you meet the required criteria.

Shortlisting is expected to take place on 14th October 2026, with interviews expected week commencing 19th October 2026.
