Manage project delivery, be proud of the results
As Construction Project Manager, you are the driving force behind large, complex construction projects, ensuring that they are delivered to time, cost and quality. You’ll pay close attention to programme/project plans and customer requirements. Plus, you’ll manage multi-functional teams, developing and coaching them in principles and techniques.
This role helps us better understand our stakeholders – through mapping and communications. Our aim is to fulfil project KPIs and receive positive feedback.
It’ll be your responsibility to schedule projects, including major work packages and milestones for effective delivery. Establishing the supply chain, adding the pipeline forecasting, ensuring adequate resource planning and optimum use of our resources will all be key. You’ll be accountable for setting project costs and maintaining accurate records, and for making sure that all work follows the FCDO Services governance model. It’s important that you embed rigorous project risk and change management processes and procedures, escalating issues when needed.
We’d like you to support our growth by helping to develop work from both existing and new customers. That includes identifying opportunities for repeat or additional projects, as well as spotting potential new business. The role also involves preparing tender packs and managing construction contracts from award through to completion.
Create a positive, hardworking team
As a manager, we’d like you to foster a positive working environment. You’ll drive the team to identify and implement efficiency initiatives and innovations, with a particular focus on reducing the delivery cost of projects. As a line manager for project managers and support staff, you’ll encourage development through coaching and mentoring.
You’ll bring demonstratable experience leading and managing teams. As well as qualifications in the following methodologies or practices are essential PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, ISEB Certificate in Project Management, or an equivalent qualification in a similar discipline. You’ll have applied project management methodologies in the design, development and implementation of multidisciplinary construction projects. And have knowledge of relevant Health and Safety standards and procedures including Construction Design Management 2015.
Bringing with you strong risk management capability, managing and tracking projects finances and budgets. You’ve been responsible for project forecasts, report writing and documenting key stages of the projects including drafting, tendering and managing NEC4, or similar, construction contracts.
Membership of RIBA, RICS, ICE, IStructE, CIBSE or a professional project management body such as APM would be an advantage, as would familiarity with project management frameworks including M_o_R®, MSP® and M_o_V®, along with an awareness of the BSA. Experience of managing large, complex projects in secure environments globally would be desirable.
