London Borough of Harrow is embarking on an exciting and ambitious journey to deliver a series of transformative Children’s Reforms Programmes, including Families First, Best Start Family Hubs, Best Start in Life, and SEND Reforms.

To support this vital work, we are expanding our team and recruiting a number of key roles that will strengthen programme delivery and ensure that children, young people and families remain firmly at the heart of everything we do.

Senior Communications Officer

In this pivotal role, you will support the Portfolio Management Office (PMO), this role plays a key part in driving the successful delivery of the Children's Reforms Programme and other major initiatives. You will help drive transformation across multiple services by coordinating complex workstreams, strengthening governance, and ensuring that senior leaders have the insights they need to make informed strategic decisions. Working at the heart of organisational change, you’ll support agile ways of working, champion best‑practice project and programme management, and contribute to a culture built on collaboration, courage, and delivering meaningful results.

About You

The successful candidate will have:-

  • Understanding of the Council’s project management methodology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience extracting information from multiple sources and producing accurate, well‑presented reports.
  • Experience coordinating and arranging meetings, events, and training sessions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
  • Skilled in developing communication materials for staff and managers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and methodical approach to work.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.

    Salary range

    • £34,206 - £35,931 per year
