Lancaster City Council is a high-performing, progressive and inclusive place to work and we are seeking a Projects and Performance Manager to lead a dedicated team to drive strategic projects that shape the future of Lancaster.

Reporting into the Chief Officer - People and Policy and working closely with the rest of Senior Leadership Team, Elected Members and colleagues across the Council, this is a high-profile role and your leadership will ensure council-wide operations run smoothly, supporting delivery of our recently updated Council Plan.

By coordinating key work such as our successful "Fit for the Future" transformation programme, and Local Government Reorganisation preparations, you’ll play a vital role in delivering positive change for our community and influencing the direction of travel.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will manage and inspire the Projects and Performance team, aligning project delivery with council goals. Your role includes overseeing project plans, resource management, governance and risk. You’ll be supported to lead business process improvements, provide expert advice and training, and maintain performance dashboards. Engaging with stakeholders and reporting progress to senior leaders and Committees will be central to your work, ensuring transparency and success across all projects.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You're a people person who will bring strong project management expertise, ideally with Prince2 and MSP qualifications (or equivalent), and has experience leading teams and improvement projects. Your analytical skills, IT literacy and ability to communicate clearly will help you thrive. You’re proactive, innovative and motivated to challenge norms while working collaboratively.
