Grade 10

Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in the west of London. Home to around 370,000 people, it is the third largest borough by population in London and is an exciting, diverse and challenging place to live and work.

The post-holder will work with a named Public Health Principal to support the work of the PH Principals to deliver the Children’s agenda to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.

You will have the opportunity to work with a range of partners both within the Council and across the borough, using your public health knowledge across a range of topic areas.

This role offers a great learning opportunity to learn about wider public health work and tackling inequalities in a local authority. The public health team has a strong learning ethos and provides a very supportive environment.

There has never been a better time to join the team at Ealing.

  • The Council Plan has a strong focus on tackling inequalities, supporting healthy lives and engaging with our communities.
  • The Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2023-28 was launched last year, with a clear focus on reducing inequalities and improving the building blocks of health.
  • Ealing Council has recently been awarded £5m of funding from NIHR to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration, working in partnership with our communities and academic partners.
  • There are strong relationships across the Council, especially following extensive joint work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

By joining Ealing, you will be part of a respected, innovative and diverse London borough with a strong reputation for its commitment to health and wellbeing. Public Health sits at the forefront of our early intervention and prevention work and our work is cross-cutting, working with other council departments and local strategic partners to affect system change.

The location for the role is Perceval House in central Ealing. Currently, the majority of staff are hybrid working, with office working strongly encouraged for at least 2 days a week (this may change depending on the needs of the department).

Flexible working is considered for all roles in the Public Health team.

It is an exciting time to join us, here at Ealing Council. If you would like to make a positive difference to our residents and borough, then we’re looking forward to hearing from you.
