
Public Relations and Communications Assistant (Apprentice)
Job summary
We are recruiting a Public Relations and Communications Assistant (Apprentice) to join our Communications Team.
This is an exciting new role at the heart of Ofsted’s communication team. The role reports to the Strategic Communications Manager in the External Affairs team and will work closely with the Head of External affairs and the wider communications division management team.
The role will provide support to the whole of the communications division liaising through the External Affairs team and will allow the post holder to learn and gain experience in a wide variety of communication disciplines. As well as having the opportunity to input your own skills and ideas, there will be a specific focus on supporting the strategic prioritisation and practical management of all Ofsted communications across all our teams (media, internal, digital, etc).
About the apprenticeship
You will undertake a fully funded Level 4 Apprenticeship qualification in Public Relations and Communications Assistant. The apprenticeship training programme will take 19 months to complete. Over this time, you will develop skills and knowledge that will support you in a wide range of duties.
When you start the apprenticeship, you will have a tutor to help you make the most of the training programme.
Every 6 to 8 weeks, you will have one-to-one sessions with a tutor. You will think about how to apply your learning to workplace scenarios. This will help you to build up a useful portfolio of tools and techniques.
Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will spend at least of 20% of your working time (one day a week) completing off-the-job learning.

The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the person specification.

Assessment and interview
Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlisting stage will be invited to an assessment and interview where they will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and the experience/technical skills set out in section 3 of the job specification.
If we receive a high number of applications, an initial sift will be conducted based on the following lead criterion:

Applicants who meet this initial eligibility criterion will be invited to progress to the next stage of the selection process.
