💼 Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and visionary leader to shape the future of our regional bus network. This role is perfect for someone passionate about transforming public transport through innovation, collaboration, and a relentless focus on customer experience.
The role will work in the Public Transport Team, as part of the Place and Connectivity Directorate. You will report into the Assistant Director for Public Transport.
🔧 What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the development of a modern, customer-focused bus network across the region
- Driving innovation in fares, ticketing, real-time information, and journey planning
- Managing a team of subject matter experts and overseeing key transport projects
- Collaborating with local authorities, developers, and stakeholders to secure investment
- Delivering improvements to bus stop environments and passenger safety
- Acting as the lead expert on bus network governance and customer experience strategy
What we're looking for
👀 We’re looking for someone with:
- Education to a degree level or equivalent experience working at a commensurate level.
- Extensive experience in delivering transport or bus network improvements, specifically aimed at improving the customer experience.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills across public and private sectors
- A strategic mindset with the ability to manage complex projects and budgets
- Knowledge of local/central government or combined authority operations
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a focus on customer outcomes
- A passion for innovation and improving public transport accessibility and usability

Salary range
