Job description

Operational Delivery & Purchase to Pay (P2P) Expertise

  • In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure high‑quality operational delivery. Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and approving requisitions within agreed timescales, ensuring consistency to procurement routes and audit requirements.
  • Supporting the business with end‑to‑end purchase order lifecycle tasks.
  • Maintaining accurate supplier records in Oracle, working with suppliers and internal teams to ensure data quality and resolve errors.
  • Acting as the specialist for complex P2P queries received via shared mailboxes, providing support across the Treasury Group.
  • Responding to queries received through the Corporate Services shared mailbox as required.

Controls, Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • You will play a key role in maintaining strong controls and supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives. This includes:
  • Conducting periodic reviews of supplier data, inactive accounts, and open purchase orders to reduce fraud and error risks.
  • Supporting the maintenance and development of P2P Standard Operating Procedures, process maps, and internal guidance, contributing to wider improvement activities.
  • Identifying patterns in user error, process gaps, or training needs, and providing targeted guidance to the business.

Systems & User Acceptance Testing

  • You will help ensure our systems remain efficient, reliable, and user‑friendly by:
  • Preparing and completing P2P‑related test scripts for quarterly Oracle updates, documenting issues, and retesting fixes with the Oracle team.
  • Acting as a subject‑matter specialist for system changes that impact the P2P workflow and corporate services platforms.

Stakeholder Support & Business Engagement

  • Your engagement skills will be critical in supporting colleagues across the organisation. You will:
  • Provide system and process guidance to requisitioners, approvers, and finance colleagues to strengthen compliance and data quality.
  • Assist the Manager with evidence gathering for internal and external audit requests.
  • Contribute to P2P‑related responses for PQs, FOIs, or data returns as needed.

Data & Reporting

  • Your analytical capabilities will support effective decision‑making by:
  • Assisting with the collection, validation, and analysis of monthly P2P and contract performance data for internal reporting cycles.

Cross‑Team Support & Cover

  • Collaboration is central to the way we work. In this role, you will:
  • Provide operational cover for the P2P and Corporate Services Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of core workflow, addressing customer issues, and maintaining service levels.
  • Support colleagues across Finance Operations—including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Corporate Cards, and the Contracts Database team—during peak activity, absence, or year‑end pressures to maintain business continuity.

Everyone working with government assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. Additionally, individuals appointed to the Treasury group will be subject to National Security Vetting. The level of security vetting required for this role is Security Check (SC).

To allow for meaningful checks to be carried out, applicants will need to have lived in the UK for at least 3 out of the past 5 years. In exceptional circumstances, for example if you have been working abroad on a government posting, a lack of residency would not be a bar to security clearance however the Department will need to consider eligibility on a case-by-case basis once the advert closing date has passed.

Please read the Vetting Charter for information on what to expect during the vetting process and what will be expected from you. Many areas of your life may be explored during your vetting journey, and it is important that every individual, regardless of their background and experiences, should feel comfortable going through this personal process, whilst having confidence that it is fair, proportionate, and inclusive.

These short videos address common concerns and preconceptions which applicants may have about national security vetting. If you have questions relating to security clearances, please contact HMTSecurityVetting@hmtreasury.gov.uk
