Job description
As a member of the insight team, you will be instrumental in adding insight to policy and communications work. You will contribute to polling, survey experiments, and other quantitative analysis on priority topics.
You will work seamlessly with colleagues in No10, including the Policy Unit, Delivery Unit, and Communications, as well as other government departments to get insight in front of senior decisionmakers. Our stakeholders include special advisors, senior ministers, the Prime Minister, and Civil Service leaders.

Main responsibilities
- Analysing survey data programmatically to identify key insights
- Producing data visualisation of survey data
- Working closely at-pace with other No10 civil servants to react to ongoing developments
- Establishing and maintaining strong networks across government communication functions, in departments, No10, and the Cabinet Office.
- Inspiring the people who make decisions and drive delivery of essential public services to use insight data and evidence
You will be able to competently demonstrate:
- Experience of quantitative insight work, survey experiment design, and statistical analysis of survey experiments, such as conjoints, that can be deployed flexibly across a range of issue areas
- Statistical knowledge, appropriate for analysing polling data, survey experiments, and other quantitative analysis
- Strong ability to research and summarise public perception on topics of interest
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into meaningful, easily understood narrative for non-analytical audiences
- The ability to work at pace in a complex environment, balancing the need to deliver robust insights in a comprehensible way
- Experience delivering compelling presentations
- Keenness to develop excellence in communicating analytical findings for impact, including through creative visualisation
- Strong interest in use of data and evidence to drive better outcomes
- Attention to detail
The following are highly desirable:
- Experience working with survey providers and public opinion vendors
- Data visualisation skills
- Ability to code in python (or R), primarily for statistical analysis
- Experience using AI enabled workflows to increase productivity
On the job training can be provided, however an additional allowance is payable dependent on technical skill demonstrated at test stage and interviews.

Candidates who pass the sift will undertake a technical test, details of which will be shared at that time.
A final interview will be held in 10 Downing Street with candidates who pass the technical test.

Please note that this role requires SC clearance, which would normally need 5 years' UK residency in the past 5 years.
