We’re focused on new business to secure profitable and robust revenue pipelines that match our strategic ambitions. We’re set on building strong relationships that generate high customer satisfaction and protect the business with sharp commercial disciplines, processes and governance and provide insights to shape strategy and business improvements.

To help us achieve these aims, you’ll work closely with your line manager on new business and opportunities. You’ll deliver agreed Corporate Plan and RAP revenue and gross margin targets, manage pipeline delivery at a project level. As required, you’ll renew and secure commercial requirements, ensuring that proposals are high quality, customer requirements are addressed and FCDO Services interests protected. Relying on your excellent communication skills, you’ll influence operational relationships and customer experience. You’ll be the escalation point for complex issues.

You’ll develop a deep understanding of and strong relationships with FCDO and higher tier customers, their current and future requirements and stakeholders, decision drivers, budget priorities and operational environment. Driving forward and championing the development of compelling products and services that create better value for FCDO. You’ll manage forecasts, pipeline reports, and customer purchase orders with accuracy. Working with commercial and delivery teams, you ensure reliable planning and propose realistic but stretching targets.

What you’ll bring

You’re an account manager with experience in business delivery, negotiation, forecasting, reporting, business planning and relationship management. This is backed by a record of delivering high quality, efficient and effective sales output. You’re adept at securing business, even in the face of resistance and other issues. This is paired with a knack for managing customers and their expectations, from opportunity right through to commercial completion and delivery. A clear communicator and presenter, you can make even the complex easy to understand, turning on your ability to engage and influence when needed. This extends to leading and supporting your team members. Highly organised, you’re focused on the details, the deadline and the results. Plus, you’re knowledgeable about commercial acumen and financial management reporting.

It would be desirable if you had a degree or Level 6 qualification in business management. Experience in value-based selling, contract management, CRM, private sector best practice, and working in sales in a variety of commercial and/or secure environments would be beneficial. As would experience of product, project or service delivery across a variety of sectors, ideally construction, estates, logistics, FM, ICT, professional services. It would be plus if you’re a professional member of a professional body relevant to customer base, for example, CIPS or RICS.

We are looking for people with:

  • Relevant and recent account management experience covering business delivery, negotiation, forecasting, reporting, business planning and relationship management.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality, efficient and effective sales output.
  • Securing business for standard and custom products and services, dealing effectively with resistance and concerns and successfully resolving problems with customers.
  • Managing customer through opportunity to commercial completion and delivery, successfully setting and managing customer expectations for complex and problematic products & service delivery.
  • Formulating accurate, concise, tailored and compelling sales rationales and reports.
  • Communicating complex information simply, succinctly and in a compelling way to engage and influence.
  • Team player, equally able to support as lead and influence.
  • Engaging, presenting to and influencing diverse audiences, internal and external stakeholders across all levels from junior office to C-suite.
  • Commercial acumen and financial management reporting knowledge.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised, detail oriented, deadline and results driven.
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to respond adeptly to changing or conflicting priorities.
