As a Repairs Inspector, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering a resident-first repairs service that meets new regulatory demands and business priorities. You’ll act as the eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring repairs are properly diagnosed, completed to a high standard, and compliant with health and safety requirements. Your work will include:
- Meeting business targets, including post-inspecting 10% of all responsive repairs.
- Responding to new requirements under Awaab’s Law, with a strong initial focus on damp and mould cases.
- Supporting our triage system with the Call Centre (CRM) to assess damp and mould reports using pre-set risk questions. High-risk cases go to Surveyors; low/medium risk cases are managed by Inspectors and contractors.
- Managing workload based on contractor completions and performance.
This is a customer-facing role, requiring visits to residents’ homes and collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out post-inspections and manage responsive repairs.
- Use triage processes to assess damp and mould reports and escalate appropriately.
- Hold contractors accountable for quality and compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service and keep residents informed.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Call Centre, Repairs Coordinators, Surveyors) and external partners (contractors, residents).
- Participate in an out-of-hours rota (including evenings and weekends).
- Work from the office at least two days per week.
What You’ll Need
- Experience in social housing, property services, or building maintenance.
- Understanding of responsive repairs (trade background) or a desire to develop in this area.
- Good organisational skills, including diary management.
- Strong communication and IT skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements and housing legislation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A resident-focused mindset with empathy and accountability.
Career Progression
This role is designed as a stepping stone into a surveying career. We offer training opportunities, including apprenticeship degrees in Building Surveying or similar technical qualifications (HND/HNC), to help you progress.
