Repairs Inspectors - South London

We’re recruiting Repairs Inspectors to support the delivery of a high‑quality, resident‑focused repairs service. These roles are key to improving contractor performance, resolving repairs effectively and helping to drive higher resident satisfaction.

As the service continues to evolve, Inspectors will move towards dedicated borough-based patches, allowing for greater local knowledge, consistency and ownership

About the role

As a Repairs Inspector, you’ll be a visible, accountable presence out in our communities. You’ll inspect works, manage post‑inspections, support the resolution of complex or escalated repairs and work closely with contractors to ensure high standards are met.

Much of your working day will be spent working independently, visiting homes and estates, using mobile/PDA technology to document inspections, update systems and manage your cases. You’ll need to be confident in making professional judgements, balancing technical requirements with resident needs.

This role plays a vital part in strengthening contractor management and improving resident outcomes, and we’re already seeing positive results through this way of working.

What you’ll be doing

  • Inspecting responsive repairs, damp and mould cases and escalated works
  • Completing post‑inspections to monitor quality, value for money and resident experience
  • Using mobile devices and IT systems to update records, complete reports and manage cases
  • Working closely with contractors to challenge performance and drive improvements
  • Communicating clearly with residents and colleagues, keeping people informed throughout
  • Taking ownership of cases from start to finish, ensuring issues are properly resolved
  • Raising health and safety concerns and ensuring regulatory standards are met

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in social housing, building maintenance or a related property field, with an understanding of repairs services
  • Knowledge of building pathology and housing repair standards, or the ability to apply technical judgement in a repairs environment
  • An understanding of responsive repairs, or a genuine interest in developing your career in this area
  • Strong organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload and work independently
  • Good communication and IT skills, including confident record‑keeping, reporting and use of mobile/PDA systems
  • Confidence in handling complaints, escalations and post‑inspection processes, maintaining a calm, professional and resident‑focused approach
  • A working knowledge of health and safety requirements and housing regulations, and how to apply these in practice

    Salary range

    • £33,000 per year
