Empower Resident Voices – Become Our Resident Engagement Officer at Arun District Council

At Arun District Council, we put residents at the heart of everything we do. As we respond to the Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards and look ahead to a new chapter in local government, this is a pivotal time to join us.

We are seeking a Resident Engagement Officer to lead the development and delivery of our next Resident Engagement Strategy, shaping how residents influence, scrutinise and improve the services they receive. This is a unique opportunity to champion meaningful engagement and drive a culture of inclusion, accountability and co-production across our Housing, Wellbeing & Communities service.

From estate walkabouts and resident panels to digital engagement and the Arun@Home newsletter, your work will be central to how we listen to tenants and leaseholders and how we act on what they tell us. You’ll support resident-led scrutiny, lead targeted outreach with under represented groups and ensure that resident voice is embedded in service planning, business improvement and performance monitoring.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about social housing, confident in working across a range of tenures and communities and driven to create real change. You’ll bring energy, empathy and excellent communication skills, along with experience in community or resident engagement. Knowledge of housing, governance or complaints is welcome, but not essential.

At Arun, we’re proud of our kind, inclusive and forward-thinking culture. You’ll be part of a team that values trust, integrity and professionalism and which works every day to put residents first.

This is more than a communications or consultation role, it’s about influence, accountability and delivering on the promises of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act. If you’re ready to lead meaningful engagement at a time of change, we’d love to hear from you.

We love to invest in our people, providing the opportunity for professional development and fulfilment. Work life balance is encouraged, and we enjoy a variety of flexible working arrangements. Please see Why work for Arun for more information on what Arun offers their employees.

We're an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability.
