Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for an "As and When" Residential Support Worker to ensure the smooth running of the home and help to provide 24-hour support. You will work with the multi-ethnic care team to create an enabling environment for people recovering from severe and enduring mental health problems.

Tasks involve assisting residents with their daily care needs in terms of physical, emotional, educational, occupational, and cultural requirements.

The post holder must be able to assist the team to provide a first-class service in line with the principles of the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Under the direction of the Manager, you will be committed to the objective of maintaining and developing a household which is responsive to the changing needs of clients.

(Please note: The post holder will be required to work at various units for our in-house provider services on an as and when basis)


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • An understanding of the development needs (social, emotional, and physical) of adults who have severe learning disabilities.
  • Understanding of ‘valuing people’.
  • Understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
  • An understanding of ‘challenging behaviour’ and how to work with it constructively.
  • An understanding of multi-disciplinary work.
  • The potential to undertake client key working.
  • The potential to take decisions and responsibilities, and to address difficulties and emergencies appropriately.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
