About the team

The Hertfordshire Inclusion Teaching Service (HITS) supports children and young people who are unable to attend school due to a range of SEND, medical, emotional or complex needs. Our purpose is to ensure every child remains engaged in learning, rebuilds confidence and is supported to reintegrate successfully back into education.

HITS provides a flexible model of education that includes community learning, online provision and group sessions at HITS centres.

The Resource and Monitoring Officer (REMO) works alongside the Access Lead, Lead Teacher, Senior Teachers, Teachers, Reintegration Education Officers, parents, schools, and multi‑agency professionals. Together they remove barriers to attendance, rebuild relationships with education and ensure students have a supported pathway back into school.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated, resilient and detail‑driven individual who is passionate about strengthening the quality of our provision and improving outcomes for children facing barriers to education.

As a Resource and Monitoring Officer, you will help drive the effective use of resources across the service to support positive outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities will see you:

  • Monitor and allocate HITS’ human, financial and digital resources.
  • Lead weekly and annual quality assurance processes.
  • Produce regular KPI and performance reports.
  • Track the impact of reintegration support for pupils.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of educational tools and interventions.
  • Manage the telephone and email advice line.
  • Support service improvement planning and governor reporting.
  • Provide professional feedback to staff and engage sensitively with parents and schools.

About you

Essential:

  • Strong ability to monitor and analyse resource allocation.
  • Confident in carrying out weekly quality assurance checks and identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Skilled in preparing KPI-based performance reports and tracking statutory deadlines (e.g., tuition in place within 15 days).
  • Excellent communication skills, including giving constructive feedback to teachers and Reintegration Support Officers.
  • Able to manage challenging conversations with professionalism, empathy and clarity.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience coordinating QA cycles, reporting and service improvement planning.
  • Effective problem-solver with ability to analyse data and identify improvements in provision and reintegration.
  • Understanding of statutory responsibilities under Section 19 and key performance indicators for alternative provision.
  • Accurate administrative skills, including clerking duties and managing advice lines for parents and schools.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within education, SEND or inclusion settings.
  • Experience with quality assurance or audit frameworks.
  • Confidence in data reporting, performance analysis and impact tracking.
  • Knowledge of reintegration processes and multi-agency working.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools.
