Job Title: Revenue Assistant
Salary: £29,253– £32,736 per annum
Grade: C
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Department
The Council Tax Team is responsible for administering and managing the local taxation system that helps fund essential public services. Their work ensures that households are billed accurately, payments are collected efficiently, and residents receive the support or exemptions they’re entitled to.
About the Role
As a Revenue Assistant, you will be responsible for:

The Administration of Council Tax to ensure correct liabilities for billing purposes

Adhering to Legislation of Council Tax to apply exemptions and/or discounts to accounts, where applicable

Processing of work items received via our online services and our main document management system

Communicating with residents to address queries and update customer accounts
This role offers the chance to make a real difference by delivering services to the residents of Thurrock.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who has:
- In depth knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates Legislation and how it is applied.
- In depth knowledge of all discounts, exemptions, and discretionary powers that local authorities have
- Excellent written & verbal skills
- Ability to motivate and develop others enabling all to achieve their potential and provide a quality service.
- A strong commitment to improving service delivery to meet the needs of the client and service users.
DBS Check: Yes - Basic Level
